On September 18, 2024, the official opening of the Housing Institute took place at Parkovy Congress and Exhibition Center to help Ukrainians expand access to housing solutions.
The event brought together people's deputies of Ukraine, deputy ministers, heads and more than 100 representatives of international organizations, authorities, public and charitable organizations.
The opening took place in the Small Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of the complex. At the event, a presentation of the Institute of Housing and its main functions was held. Olena Shuliak, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, also stressed that the Institute will become an important tool for improving housing policy in Ukraine, and all information will be available through an online platform.
Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Nataliia Kozlovska noted that the Institute is already actively involved in the development of new housing legislation, but there are still a huge number of tasks ahead.
The Housing Institute was initiated by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) with the support of UNHCR.
"The establishment of the Housing Institute is an important milestone as it will be the first think tank dedicated to housing policy in the country"..."Our goal is to promote the development of a housing system that not only provides sufficient housing, but also promotes sustainability for all Ukrainians," – commented Roberto Vila-Sexto, Director of NRC Ukraine, during the event.
