On March 23, Kyiv CEC Parkovy hosted a ceremonial handover of 25 new ambulances for frontline regions of Ukraine. Project HOPE, in partnership with the United States Government and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, handed over vehicles that will soon be deployed to Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Odesa regions.
For thousands of residents in frontline areas, where roads are often damaged and the threat of shelling complicates every medical response, reliable emergency services are a matter of life and death. The new Type C ambulances based on all-wheel-drive Volkswagen Crafters are equipped with modern medical equipment: ventilators, defibrillators, portable pulse oximeters, and capnographs. Medical personnel will also receive protective gear — body armor and ballistic helmets.
The ceremony was attended by U.S. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in Ukraine Julie S. Davis, Ukrainian Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, Project HOPE Executive Director Rabih Torbay, and EACAP Program Director Caine Cortellino. Participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation in strengthening Ukraine's healthcare system during the most challenging times.
The event took place at Viewpoint — Parkovy's open-air venue with a total area of 5,500 sq.m, where a small stage for speakers and theatre-style seating for guests were set up. The open-air location with a separate entrance was ideal for the ceremonial event and vehicle demonstration.
This ambulance handover was made possible through the "Emergency Assistance to Conflict-Affected Population in Ukraine" (EACAP) project, implemented by Project HOPE with the generous support of the American people through the United States Government.
Project HOPE continues to work in Ukraine, strengthening the healthcare system and ensuring access to emergency care in the most remote and vulnerable communities.
Parkovy is grateful for the opportunity to be part of an event that will save the lives of Ukrainians.
