On November 2, Kyiv hosted the Fifth International Cultural Grants Fair organized by the EU Creative Europe Program Office in Ukraine. The fair serves as a platform for establishing communication bridges between Ukrainian and European grantors and representatives of the cultural and creative sectors of Ukraine in creating dialogue, cooperation, filling gaps in information on a particular program, exchanging ideas about painful and new ideas.
With an opening speech to the guests of the event addressed T.P.D. Minister of Culture and Information Policy in Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev, Founder and Executive Director of KEA European Affairs Philipp Kern and EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.
"It is really joyful to see a full hall at this fair, where the European Union is trying to support the culture a little at such a difficult time," – said Katarina Mathernova. – “I know that this is not the main project and that resources are never enough, but we try to support Ukraine in the humanitarian sphere, microfinance systems, militarily, but I am delighted that we can even with smaller projects, but such important events as this, popularize the importance of culture. I agreed with Mr. Minister that we will meet and see how we can continue to cooperate together. And Ukrainian culture is European culture."
Opportunities of consultations from representatives of grant programs were created for participants. In the context of a full-scale war, in particular, they talked about the importance of promoting culture on the agenda in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, and discussed the inclusive restoration of the Ukrainian and creative sector.
Participants from different parts of Ukraine had the opportunity to join workshops, panel discussions and training events, during which they learned about the possibilities of grant support from Ukrainian institutions, assistance projects and initiatives, as well as from European and international programs.
Among the key events of the Fair is the workshop "Project Management in the Field of Culture. Grant Management" and discussion on the role and place of grant funding for the cultural and creative sector in the context of global and European transformations in the labor market and changes in the paradigm and mechanisms of monetization of the sector.
The event took place on the third floor of the CEC Parkovy, speakers performed from the stage of the Convention and Concert Hall.
