In Kyiv, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, with the support of the UN Development Program and the Government of Japan, held a veteran forum #DigitalDefenders. The event was dedicated to the current topic of the development of digital tools and services for veterans and their families within the transition from military career to civilian life.
The forum was attended by Ukrainian veterans, representatives of the IT community, adviser — Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on barrier-free Tetyana Lomakina, heads and representatives of the Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, people's deputies of Ukraine, representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Pension Fund of Ukraine and public organizations.
The event was a place to present digital products specially created by various departments for our Defenders. They will contribute to the adaptation to everyday life, help to find new opportunities and realize their potential.
Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Yulia Laputina in her welcoming speech stressed that the digitalization of services for Defenders and their families is extremely important and is a priority on the Ministry's agenda.
Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Tetyana Kalita presented digital solutions and products that are already available on the e-Veteran information portal ( https://eveteran.gov.ua). They provide an opportunity for returning Defenders to quickly choose all the capabilities for smooth reintegration into civilian life.
Olena Ursu, Head of the UNDP Democratic Governance Project Group, noted that the UN Development Program in Ukraine has long been cooperating with the Ministry of Veterans on the implementation of joint initiatives. In particular, with funding from the Swedish Government, she supported the development of a number of electronic services for veterans.
UNDP in Ukraine, in strategic partnership with the Government of Japan, supported the Minveterans in implementing the new state veteran policy. In particular, in the formation and implementation of the transition system of veterans from military service to civilian life "Transition," namely in terms of creating an appropriate electronic service on the e-Veteran portal.
During the #DigitalDefenders forum, dialogue platforms also worked, where participants of the event had the opportunity to discuss projects and programs of digital prospects for veterans and their families, exchange contacts and best practices, etc. In particular, to discuss the information and communication systems of the state, the role of digital tools in the transition from military service to civilian life, the interaction of ministries, law enforcement agencies, public organizations and veterans in the digital environment.
This important event took place in the Big Exhibition Hall of the Parkovy Congress and Exhibition Center. Thanks to mobile partitions, 2000 squares of the hall were divided in half, zoning the premises into a hall for performances, and a hall for communication and acquaintance.
